City Logistics CEO Ryan Gaines Business Continuity plan July 2021

Most of our retail customers and the broader retail industry have been impacted.  We have been in the fortunate position to support the quick restoration of their distribution operations and supply chains. Our Durban operation was closed during the week of unrest, but we are currently fully operational and managed through the period with no injury to our people or damage to our infrastructure. We have been encouraged by the responsiveness in retail as repairs and reopening of stores is the focus.

We hope we are over the worst of this unrest and the unity shown amongst communities has been a beacon of hope and strength. I think we would all agree that there needs to be increased focus on risk management, community engagement and business continuity for effective distribution in South Africa.

City Logistics has an effective business continuity plan and supports our customers to provide capacity for continuity of their distribution center operations.

We have made a significant investment in risk management over the past 3 years. Our skilled national risk team is augmented with strong partnerships, intelligence, technology, and community engagement. Our Centralized Control Centre for monitoring risk, as well as our responsiveness, aided in the protection of our Head Office and Riverhorse facilities during the unrest.

We believe that logistics providers need to provide risk solutions to their customers and, in the months ahead, we are actively engaging with all our customers around their evolving needs in this respect.

Please do not hesitate to engage with us further if we can add value to your operations in KwaZulu-Natal and throughout Southern Africa.
